Suominen takes part in A Responsible Summer Job campaign

Suominen is taking part in A Responsible Summer Job campaign, which challenges employers to offer more summer jobs of better quality to 14–29 year old youth. As a result, Suominen is offering 11 summer jobs in its production plant in Nakkila, Finland. The campaign is organized in Finland by T-Media and Economic Information Office TAT.

A Responsible Summer Job campaign helps the youth develop essential skills and generate a positive outlook on future working life, in addition to helping them earn their own money. In order to ensure this Suominen commits to six principles as an employer:

  1. A good application experience
  2. Meaningful work
  3. Introduction and guidance
  4. Fairness and equality
  5. Reasonable pay
  6. Written contract and testimonial

In a larger context, Suominen’s participation can also be seen as an action that supports Suominen’s aspiration to provide equal opportunities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the United Nations. Especially it contributes to SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, which targets at reducing the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training, among other things.
