| 22.11.2011 | Nina Kopola named Suominen’s new President and CEO Technology Licentiate Nina Kopola, 51, has been named President and CEO of Suominen Corporation and Suominen Group as of 1 December 2011. Ms Kopola has today begun to familiarise herself with the company’s operations together with current President and CEO Petri Rolig. As of December, Mr Rolig will transfer to the post of Deputy CEO, with primary responsibility for developing the Flexibles and Codi Wipes businesses. |

The Home and Personal business was transferred to Suominen on 31 October 2011. The value of the transaction is approximately EUR 170 million. |

| 25.10.2011 | Interim Report 1 January - 30 September 2011: A global nonwoven company in sight Suominen’s net sales for the first nine months of the year grew compared with the corresponding period in 2010. The operating profit for the third quarter was negative, as it was for the entire reporting period. Sales margins improved during the third quarter, but production volumes were lower than average. The ongoing cost-saving measures had a positive impact on the Group’s result. On 4 August 2011, Suominen concluded an agreement on the acquisition of Ahlstrom’s Home and Personal business area and in October, organised a EUR 87 million share issue to finance part of the acquisition. The transaction will be finalised on 31 October 2011. |

Relating to the share issue, the Board of Directors of Suominen has, in addition to the prior commitments totaling EUR 80,265,000, received written commitments to subscribe for new shares in Suominen’s forthcoming share issue from the following current shareholders and investors: Pharmacy Pension Fund; Mr Harald Relander; Foundation for Economic Education; Onninen-sijoitus Oy; Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund; Finnish Cultural Foundation; and AC Invest Two B.V. The new subscription commitments together with earlier published commitments total EUR 86,165,000, i.e. the minimum amount of the share issue that has been agreed on in connection with the acquisition, EUR 85,000,000 or 188,888,889 shares, has been exceeded. |
| 27.09.2011 | Competition authorities approved Suominen’s acquisition of Ahlstrom’s Home and Personal wipes fabrics business area Competition authorities in Spain, Germany and the United States have approved the agreement between Suominen Corporation and Ahlstrom Corporation regarding Suominen’s acquisition of Ahlstrom’s Home and Personal wipes fabrics business area which was published on 4 August 2011. It is estimated that the transaction will be completed by 31 October 2011 at the latest. Authority approval of the transaction in Brazil is estimated to take place during the first quarter of 2012, and it is not a prerequisite of the completion of the transaction outside of Brazil. |

The second-quarter operating profit improved to zero level, but cumulatively, the operating profit was still negative. The rise in raw material costs slowed down compared to the first quarter of the year. The on-going cost-saving measures had a positive impact on the Group’s result. It is estimated that the result after taxes for the whole year will improve over 2010, but remain negative. |

| 11.02.2011 | Financial statement release 1 January - 31 December 2010 Unprofitable year Suominen's net sales in 2010 declined by 3 per cent compared with the previous year and totalled EUR 173.4 million. Operating profit before non-recurring costs and a write-down of goodwill was EUR -3.8 million (7.3) and after these deductions EUR -10.8 million (6.7). The result after taxes was a loss of EUR 14.4 million (+0.9). The write-down of goodwill amounted to EUR 4.9 million and non-recurring costs arising from restructuring were EUR 2.2 million (0.6). In the face of an extremely tight competitive situation gross margins fell. The result also deteriorated as a consequence of lower production volumes and a rise in raw material prices. During the financial year, Suominen raised its equity by issuing a rights offering of EUR 10 million and arranged refinancing by signing an agreement on a credit facility in the amount of EUR 44 million. Earnings per share were EUR -0.34 (0.02). Cash flow from operations was EUR -0.06 per share. The Board of Directors proposes that no dividend be paid for the financial year 2010. |
