Better with Biolace®
Biolace® marks a new, more sustainable era in the world of nonwovens.
All natural
Biolace® is produced solely from renewable raw materials – natural fibres or fibres from renewable sources – and is 100% biodegradable and compostable. To ensure sustainability throughout our procurement chain, we only use TCF viscose sourced from certified forests, Ingeo™ fibers, and cotton, for example. Biolace® products do not contain animal derived materials or any harmful substances.
Safe and soft
Produced from varying combinations of natural raw materials, all raw materials used in Biolace® products have a Öko-Tex Standard 100 Class I certificate. This ensures that Biolace nonwovens are safe to be used in any personal care product.
Intended to complement Suominen's other nonwoven products, hydroentangled Biolace® is comfortable and absorbent, and ideal for numerous wipe applications, ranging from baby and personal care to cleaning. Biolace® is currently available in a number of grades offering smooth or hydroembossed surfaces.
Carefully chosen raw materials
Viscose fibers used in Biolace products come from forests that are grown and harvested in a sustainable way, they all have certificates to prove it. The raw material suppliers have the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates. Cotton fiber used in Biolace products grow under tight restrictions implemented by the Food and Drug Administration.
Ingeo™ fibers are made of polylactic acid, PLA, which is a relatively new fiber material. It behaves similarly to the other synthetic fibers, such as polyester, but its origin is in nature. Ingeo™ uses corn as raw material. PLA for Ingeo™ fibers relies on fermentation, distillation and polymerization processes and it requires of less fossil resources and generates fewer greenhouse gases than traditional plastics. The raw material suppliers have the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates, and the Ingeo™ fibers have Öko-tex certificate.
There is constant development work done with Biolace nonwovens. One part of this is searching for other suitable, environmentally friendly raw materials that are available at affordable costs.
